My name is Kristen Delinski. Some people call me K-Del, but on a typical day, I just go by… “Kristen”. I am currently 19 and I live in the smallest of small towns, where your business becomes everyone’s. This lovely place I call home is Tremont, Illinois.

I am finishing my first year in college, attending a local and cheap community college (Illinois Central College), which is about 30 minutes from my house. Even though I have only had 2 semesters in college, I will be considered a junior next year and be attending OSF Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing to get my bachelors degree.  I’m hoping to use these skills for medical missions after graduating and practicing for a few years in a hospital.

I have worked at a local ice cream shop, Pinky’s, for four summers. I also am working at a family practice doctor office in the neighboring town and make some awesome money, not to mention I have picked up some good stuff before nursing school – yeah! It’s a pretty sweet gig. When I have time, I also babysit for a single mom of three insanely active boys who need the most attention possible. Even though I (sometimes) have a terrible attitude about spending my only free time watching these boys, they truly light up my life and I always leave feeling as though my heart is bursting. Making and saving money is a thing of mine, I rarely spend it (except on this trip, mind you!) and I absolutely hate asking my parents for money. I like buying them random gifts or lunch just to show my appreciation for how much they have given me.

I enjoy watching Disney movies. I’m also a huge fan of the story of Harry Potter… this does not mean I love Daniel Radcliffe or the human actors, but merely Harry and the rest of the fictional characters. J I’m pretty sure my adrenaline pumps when someone says his name. I love basketball and volleyball, and I miss playing it regularly. When I see my friends, making crazy dance videos is a normal event. I very much enjoy blaring music and singing at the top of my lungs, and my singing is not something you want to hear.

I love Olive Garden and I would enjoy eating there every single weekend of my life if possible. I have a thing for fruity candy [someone else can eat the chocolate because I just don’t find it that satisfying]. I have had an obsession with zebras since grade school. When I was in fourth grade I hit someones head with my face, and it was probably the best feeling in the world……………. I currently have had too many dentist visits to count due to chipped teeth, touchy nerve endings, root canals, crowns, loose permanent teeth, etc. As a result the dentist office now smells like death, literally.

I have only ever been on one mission trip, and that’s when Michael Jackson died. Even though that affected absolutely nothing on my trip, I went to Oklahoma for one week and built houses. It was really neat. I’ve never left the country and I just received my passport to leave and it is absolutely precious. I’m excited to go, but I have to admit, this is gonna be HUGE for me. God’s been constantly reassuring me and prepping my levels of excitement day by day. But looking at all the stuff I still have yet to do, I am just plain freaked out.
