Hey! I'm Amanda, but lots of people call me Mandy.

I grew up in Huntsville/Madison, Alabama.
It's nothing extraordinary but I love the people I'm around.

I'm 18 and a senior in high school.
I plan on going on the World Race around august of 2012 and then going to Lee University in Cleveland, TN, to get a degree in International Studies with an emphasis in missions. All I really want is to be is a full time missionary and start an orphanage.

I've had a job since I was 14 years old. Work rules my life. I now work at the best job I've ever had, Mellow Mushroom (best pizza ever). I love it there.
I also volunteer at a tutoring/after school program for inner city children every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Those kids are my life. I don't know how to explain how much I love them. I hate dropping them off at home because I know what they go home to.

I really don't worry about.. anything, and still have yet to decide if that's good or bad thing… guessing its good. I would literally spend every moment outside if I could. I want to see the world. (sounds cliche, but it's true) I love different cultures. I love to hike, It's like my crack. I love laying in my hammock on a mountain reading a good book, I read a lot.. Another obsessed of mine is SPACE. It fascinates me. I love to star gaze, I do it all the time.

I have been on only one mission trip, considering I've only been a "Christian" (I have a problem with that word in American so I consider myself a disciple of Christ) for about a year now. And that trip was what did it for me. I went to Ghana, Africa. In a little village of Hohoe to an orphanage for about 12 days last summer in 2010. I went with a group from my high school. That's when I accepted God. I recently just got baptized.. so I'm a "newby" haha. Oh I have a tattoo too, it's on my wrist its a Gye Nyame, its a west Africa symbol and it was aallll over Ghana. It means supremacy of God.

I will be in Ghana from May 23-June 16 this summer.
Little nervous about getting home for a week then doing it all over again. Doesn't mean I'm not excited.. just a little nervous. Hopefully I won't have to go to training camp with malaria… thhaattt wouldn't be too fun.

I am SO unbelievably excited for this trip.
Also, I'm extremely excited to meet all of you and get to know you!
So happy that all of us are on this team together. July is going to be awesome!
